About Natasha

Hi there! My name is Natasha Wilcox and I am so happy to have you here.

I am a non-diet Registered Dietitian passionate about Intuitive Eating and providing weight-inclusive care.

I have worked with folks with eating disorder in both outpatient and in higher levels of care, where I provided nutritional support for my clients in their recovery journey.

Not only have I witnessed the difficulties of eating disorders in a professional capacity, but personalIy I have seen the burden that diet culture has placed on family and friends around me. I am passionate about bringing healing to those who struggle with disordered eating, who are tired of the diets that have left them more exhausted than when they started, and those struggling with a disordered relationship with exercise. I believe food is a gift and I feel it is part of my mission to help reclaim food from being a burden to a gift once again.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Ashland University. I then went to Northern Illinois University for my 1,200 hour dietetic internship and Master’s degree. It was at this time that I first learned about the counter-cultural approach of intuitive eating.

I am first and foremost a Jesus follower, amazed at the every day graces He blesses us with in this beautiful, messy world. I currently live in the Akron area with my amazing husband and newborn daughter. In my free time, you will most likely find me exploring the metroparks or sipping a caramel latte at one of our local coffee shops.

Some Fun Facts

My Approach

Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating can be a life-changing way of restoring your relationship with food if you have struggled with dieting, rigid rules, calorie counting, and the forbidden foods that diets have imposed on you.

  • Intuitive Eating is a framework, intended to help folks be set free from diet culture.

  • It is a set of guiding principles, that allows you to move from choosing foods based off external cues to internal cues, from rigidity around food to flexibility, from exercising for caloric-burning purposes to joyful movement and so much more.

  • It has a validated assessment scale with over 100 studies to date.

Weight-Inclusive Care

Weight-Inclusive care is one of the other main tenets at Restore Nutrition. I believe that nutrition care should be non-stigmatizing and accessible to people of all body weight, shape, and size.

  • Weight-inclusive nutrition care involves taking the emphasis off weight as an indicator of health, and instead shifts the focus to the many behaviors that do impact health such as eating when hungry, stopping when full, engaging in mindful movement, and finding foods that are accessible, pleasurable and satisfying.

  • It acknowledges that weight is largely controlled by other factors, like genetics and environment. It recognizes that weight loss interventions and weight cycling are often more harmful than helpful for people.

  • It upholds the ethical principle "above all, do no harm".
